In the summer Donna and I had a chance to visit the Getty Museum in Los Angeles where the staff kindly opened up their reading room to us so that we could review and photograph their rare Paul Fourdrinier folio editions including the Radliffe Camera.

Designed by James Gibbs and opened in 1749 it is a very distinctive library building. When Gibbs wrote a descriptive book about his masterpiece he turned to Paul Fourdriner to do the engraving, including this one.
